This blog post is all about decorative plants.
JUNGLE LOVE “Plants” Are Definitely Decor
No matter the design style, Boho, Modern, Traditional, Mid-Century, Glam, Eclectic, Rustic, or Farmhouse adding plants will completely change the space for the better.
Indoor plants can not only fill up space but they can take a space to the next level of design. It’s about time to start thinking of indoor plants as decorative plants.
As a stylist, the one thing I love to do is have a vision of the space I’m going to be creating. There’s something so magical about visualizing all of the decor and furnishings that will complete the space. It’s truly inspiring.
I love to use indoor plants as decor. Plants potted can definitely become the star of any room. I like to call it JUNGLE LOVE and yes I like to go overboard but not overbearing with plants.
Plants bring texture, color, boldness, energy and promote clean air. Plants are like a piece of beautiful art in the room with the ability to stand alone.
Plants can be placed randomly or strategically but ultimately must be happy in their placement. Plants, like Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree’s love to thrive, stretch out, grow and live long lives.
Truly, I like to place plants in every room if possible. Small Succulents plants, huge Rubber Tree plants, tall
Palm Tree plants and Snake plants are amongst my favorites. Don’t forget to use an array of color when choosing indoor plants like dark greens, light greens, big leaves, small leaves and plants that bloom flowers like the Peace Lily plant.
Remember, to size appropriately try not to place a large plant in a small space or a small plant in a large space. You can always gather plants in multiples to accommodate the space or just to fill up the area.
So let’s go room by room with decorative plants, starting with the entryway/hallway. The entryway/hallway is an introduction to what’s to come in this amazing space.
Depending on the area and sunlight that it is giving I like to place two or three small plants such as Jade plants on a console table at different heights using gorgeous planters. It gives just a sample of what beautiful greenery awaits. Keep in mind if your entryway/hallway is huge, go big and bold with your decorative plants.
Moving on to the dining and or living room areas, in these spaces plants are awesome focal points. Be dramatic, I love some drama so try adding a Birds of Paradise plant to one of these areas.
In rooms like these well, you know me… put as many plants as you possibly can. Preferably, Olive tree’s or Swiss Cheese plants always look good in the corners of any room while anchoring the space very well so don’t be afraid, you know…plants happen.
Now, in the kitchen, I like very tall plants in beautiful planters or vases on the kitchen island and/ or countertop and very small plants close to the sink area.
It’s perfectly fine to have a home garden placed in the window sill of the kitchen by all means fill it up with plants, flowers, vegetables, and herbs, please.
Let’s not forget about the bathroom. The bathroom can be a wonderful space to create the perfect Jungle Love atmosphere. Try hanging planters from the ceiling.
Let their long vines tell an amazing story of age by the length. Also, big Cactus trees do very well in the bathroom because of all the humidity and the temperature it keeps. Definitely try hanging Eucalyptus plants in the shower, it’s so refreshing. Get creative, even somewhat strange with your bathroom plant decor. Go all out.
Last but never least, bedroom decorative plants. There are many ideas and different ways to display your plant decor in a bedroom. Since a bedroom is very personal I think that your plants should be personal as well.
Try to place the plants that you truly love in this space. Make sure that the bedroom plant decor has a purpose and/or reason. Snake plants, Peace Lily plants, and even Golden Pothos plants will help promote a better night’s sleep. My trick is to place Lavender in the bottom of my pillowcases.
I absolutely love it, every time I reposition my head on the pillow the awesome smell of Lavender gently rocks me back to sleep. No…forreal it really does.
Plants are just wonderful and exciting in any space, plants are definitely decor, and ain’t nothing wrong with a little Jungle Love. There are so many plants to choose from even if you don’t have a green thumb.
There are plants that don’t need sunlight, plants that only need minimal care, and some really good faux or artificial plants. At the end of the day, plants are a decorative go-to. So get into it…
